By opening a new office in town, Koch Supply & Trading has made Geneva its European base for trading physical energy products.
Koch Supply & Trading Sàrl provides energy trading services to their global customers. It belongs to Koch Industries, Inc., the largest privately held corporation in the world according to Forbes magazine. Located at Route de Pré-Bois 20, 1215 Geneva 15, the company plans to have about 30 employees by early 2007.
This inauguration comes shortly after that of Louis Dreyfus Commodities who centred all of its European operations in Geneva. It confirms the leading position of the city and canton in the European international trading market.
The establishment of this new entity in Geneva is the result of strategic planning. As Steve Mawer, the president of Koch Supply & Trading says, "Our steadfast focus has been to provide unparalleled service to our clients. Establishing a presence in Switzerland, which is a recognized trading and financial centre, is another example of striving to create value for our customers."
Pierre-François Unger, President of the State Council and in charge of the Department of Economy and Health, underlined the importance of this new presence for Geneva’s development as a trading hub. “Once again, our canton has been chosen thanks to its unique character as an international trading centre with an especially favourable environment for this type of activity. The quality of services available in Geneva is largely to be thanked for this success. Geneva also has all the advantages of a cosmopolitan metropolis on a human scale.”
The Geneva Economic Development Office helped with the company’s establishment and facilitated the administrative procedures with the various cantonal offices. "The arrival of Koch Supply & Trading represents a further asset in the commodities trading field, one of the pillars of the Geneva economy. This news additionally confirms Switzerland’s top-level competitiveness as was noted in the latest WEF report, and its attractiveness for the establishing of head offices for international corporations, as mentioned in a recent study by Ernst & Young. We are pleased to welcome this company in an environment suited for its development and will do all in our power to make it a successful move,” said Pierre Jaquier, head of the Geneva Economic Development Office.
