Confirming the pre-eminent position of Geneva as both a headquarters city and a leader in the domains of IT, US newcomer Brocade has just opened its Geneva service and support centre to serve the EMEA (Europe, Middle-East and Africa) markets. The Centre has a permanently manned call centre, an inter-operability test lab and full training facilities.
Key points from press release follow:
GENEVA, Switzerland—June 25, 2001—Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade®) (Nasdaq: BRCD), the world's leading provider of infrastructure for Storage Area Networks (SANs), announced today the opening of a service and support centre in Geneva, Switzerland. The Brocade Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Regional Support Centre represents the continued commitment of Brocade to the European region and will provide 24 x 7 in-time zone assistance for Brocade OEM and channel partners delivering service and support to end-customers. The centre will also be available to Brocade partners for interoperability testing and configuration qualification.
"Continued Brocade investment in European services infrastructure and partner education
enhances our ability to deliver high value customer solutions," said Wessel Graatsma,
managing director of Touch the Progress Group, a leading European storage technology
distributor. "Having easy access to the services and continuing education that are required to
achieve high levels of customer satisfaction is a tremendous asset to us. We welcome
Brocade's commitment to educating, servicing, and supporting us and our mutual customers."
In addition, all Brocade Education training courses and certification will be offered through the Brocade EMEA Regional Support Centre to Brocade partners and the public. Brocade Education Services offers a complete series of SAN training courses taught by industry specialists. Combined with an interactive, lab-style learning environment, the curriculum ranges from introductory classes in SAN fabric technology to advanced courses in SAN design and assessment. Brocade SAN education is available in locations throughout the United States, Canada, Asia Pacific, and Europe and is open to anyone. More information and a complete course schedule can be found at www.brocade.com/education_services.
Olaf Swantee, director of the Compaq Enterprise Storage Group for Europe, the Middle East,
and Africa commented, "The opening of this centre allows Compaq and Brocade to strengthen support to our customers. It is another step towards the truly open storage areanetwork and demonstrates open SANs at work. Open standards, as championed by Compaq for 20 years, are the way forward for the storage industry. Customers will no longer accept proprietary solutions, especially as IT spending on enterprise storage eclipses server
spending."
"The Brocade EMEA Regional Support Centre will make Brocade service and support more
accessible for European integrators, OEM partners, and end-customers," said Jean-Marie
Mathiot, Brocade vice president, EMEA. "The centre will feature full time staff extensively
trained on the Brocade SilkWorm® family of switches, SAN implementation, and
troubleshooting. It underscores the Brocade commitment to its global partners and
customers."
Additionally, the Brocade EMEA Regional Support Centre will work with partners in the region to conduct interoperability testing with partner products and configurations. Results of this testing will verify products in heterogeneous SAN environments and will help partners deliver best-in-breed intelligent storage networks to customers. Many Brocade partners, including Compaq Computer, Hewlett-Packard Company, Hitachi Data Systems, IBM, and Sun Microsystems have provided equipment to the centre test beds.
