Some 10 000 Americans reside in the greater Geneva region, 5 000 in Geneva alone, so perhaps it’s no surprise that the 4th of July gets a lot of attention. However, yesterday’s get-together beat all records. For the 50th time in Geneva, over 50 000 spectators crowded the regular venue to make Geneva American for a day. Organised by the American International Club of Geneva, President Robert Spencer expressed real pleasure at the turn out and in his speech drew attention to the close ties that existed 225 years ago between Geneva and the fledgling USA.
