EFFICIENT INFRASTRUCTURE AND MODERATE COSTS Print E-mail

Setting up the operational infrastructure for a new location can be a labor-intensive and, even risky, business. Office premises need to be scouted, furnishings chosen, IT, phones and Internet installed, the move of both the office and personnel organized and accomplished… Fortunately, with over 125 headquarters of multinationals already here, Geneva has a tremendous track record in smoothing the way for new companies.

The Geneva Economic Development Office and other state agencies offer tested procedures, while local service-providers (state-of-the-art IT services, relocation companies, movers, etc.) have developed efficient and cost-effective methods that minimize the time, effort and expenses involved. The experts at the Geneva Development Office can guide you in getting the help you need: to speak about your plans and our help, do not hesitate to contact us

Although Geneva prides itself on its small-town convenience, it offers the facilities and services normally found in much larger cities:

At the heart of a transportation network
The Geneva International Airport offers great connections: forty scheduled airlines serve Geneva with direct links to continental and intercontinental destinations. More than 200 trains a day pass through Geneva, including the high-speed TGV to Paris and the Pendolino to Milan. In addition, Geneva is at the crossroads of the major highway systems linking France and Italy, Germany and Spain.

Range of hotels and conference facilities
Geneva has been hosting international conferences for a long time. With the largest hotel and catering capacity in Switzerland, accommodations range from five-star luxury establishments to tourist-style accommodations, all offering the multilingual staff one would expect here. Most hotels are equipped for conferences. In addition, Geneva has the infrastructure to accommodate any size meeting or fair. The seven halls of the Geneva Palexpo exhibition and congress complex (just 500 meters from the airport and with direct access to the motorway network) offer world-class facilities (the site for World Telecom 2003 and 2009, the annual Geneva Motor Show and the European Incentive & Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition which attracts over 100 countries). A number of hotels and office complexes, including the Geneva World Trade Center, are within walking distance. The nearby Geneva Arena event hall has a capacity of over 6,000. In downtown, the International Conference Centre Geneva can accommodate 1,800 people, and features ultra-modern technical equipment.

Wide range of office rentals
The real estate offer in the Lake Geneva Region ranges from turnkey work space (just plug in your laptop) to unfurnished offices individually designed to fit a company’s needs.

The FTI, one-stop for industrial space in Geneva
With the lake on one side and mountains on the other three, Geneva’s acreage has its limits. But, in terms of efficiency, this “limitation” can work to a company’s advantage. If your company is interested in manufacturing in Geneva, contact the Industrial Estate Foundation (FTI). The FTI is dedicated to putting Geneva’s available industrial space to best advantage with an optimum mix of companies and sectors. The FTI takes a canton-wide view of Geneva: no need to enter into negotiations with individual communes to find a site suitable for your needs.

  • The FTI manages 57 per cent (over four million square meters) of the canton’s potential industrial sites;
  • Six industrial zones;
  • Interactive B2B database (e.g., surface area, access, price, etc.) on all sites and buildings under FTI management;
  • One-stop for information and negotiations;
  • Favorable terms: land, buildings or premises at competitive prices; long-term leases free up investment capital.
